Resort or city — which suits the trip
The useful question is not which is better but which failure mode you would rather avoid.
- A resort means you can drink without planning transport, you will see the same faces across a week, and there is very little to do beyond beach and bars. If a week of that sounds thin, it will be.
- A city gives you museums, food and variety, but the gay venues are scattered across a district and you will use taxis or the metro. Nobody recognises you on night three.
For a first trip, a resort is easier. For a second week in the same year, a city usually holds up better.

Density. Sitges and Maspalomas have the highest concentration of venues per square metre in Europe. Torremolinos is close behind in La Nogalera. Ibiza is the most diffuse of the six and the one most likely to disappoint someone expecting a gay resort rather than a party island.
