Editorial policy
What this policy covers
How Fab Guys researches, writes, reviews and corrects the guides published at
/guides/, and what we will not publish. It applies to every article on this
site, including the location and safety guides.
Sourcing
- Health, legal and safety claims link to a primary source: the NHS, Ofcom, gov.uk, Action Fraud,
Terrence Higgins Trust, Galop, Switchboard LGBT+ or the ONS. - Platform statistics come from our own live database with the date of the snapshot stated in the
text. We do not round them upward and we do not pad them. - We do not cite other blogs as evidence, and we do not reuse competitors’ copy.
What we will not publish
- Fake member counts or fake testimonials. If a city is quiet, the number says so.
- Invented statistics or studies. If we cannot source a figure, it does not go in.
- Real people’s data taken from other services. No scraped profiles, no reused
photos of identifiable people, no example profiles built from someone’s real account elsewhere. - Medical instructions. Our sexual-health guides explain how NHS services work
and point you to them. They do not tell you what treatment to take. - Guarantees about outcomes. No article will promise you will meet someone.
Review cycle
Every guide shows a publication date and a last-reviewed date. Safety and sexual-health guides are
re-reviewed at least every six months, and immediately when the underlying guidance changes — for
example when Ofcom or the NHS updates its position. Guides that are no longer accurate are updated or
unpublished, not quietly left up.
Corrections
If you find an error, tell us through the contact page or
@fabguys on X. Substantive
corrections are made in the article and noted with the revised review date. We do not delete
articles to hide mistakes.
Advertising and independence
Where a guide compares other apps or services, the comparison is editorial. If a link is ever
commercial, it will be labelled in the article. Nothing in these guides is written or approved by a
third party.
AI use
We use AI tools to assist with drafting and structure. Every published guide is checked by a human
on the editorial team for factual accuracy, source validity and tone before it goes live. We do not
publish unreviewed machine output.
